Lucy Banic, LMHC

Specializing in child and adolescent counseling – depression, anxiety, trauma, and self-esteem issues.

Lucy Banic, LMHC, was initially trained and educated in British Columbia, Canada, earning her BA in Psychology from Simon Fraser University in 2010, and then her MA in Clinical Counseling at City University, Seattle, Washington, in 2014.  Upon her graduation, Lucy worked as a Child and Youth Mental Health Clinician with the British Columbia Ministry for Child and Family Development. She has been a Mental Health Counselor in Washington state since 2017.

Lucy has received advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) through Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress, as well as has experience in using components of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), narrative therapy, emotion-focused, and expressive art therapy techniques.

Lucy has a passion for working with children, youth, and their families. She enjoys providing therapeutic support to clients in order to work through a variety of concerns including depression, anxiety, grief and loss, interpersonal relationship and communication difficulties, identity challenges, and self-esteem/self-acceptance challenges. Lucy also likes to incorporate problem-solving and skill-building into therapy work. 

Lucy believes that warmth, acceptance, and empathy are at the core of a positive therapeutic relationship and works to promote an environment of safety and trust where your voice is heard and valued. Lucy believes that therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and tailors her therapeutic approach to match the values and goals of clients. Using your innate strengths and skills, Lucy works with you to explore the barriers to fulfilling personal goals and by inspiring hope and optimism, supports you to move forward toward lasting change.
