Amanda L. Harmon, LMHC is a licensed mental health counselor with the state of Washington. She graduated from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary with a Masters in Counseling degree, specializing in the fields of mental health counseling and marriage and family therapy. Amanda is a certified Mental Health Specialist and Child Mental Health Specialist, and has advanced training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with a focus on Trauma Focused CBT and childhood traumatic grief through Harborview Center for Sexual Assault and Traumatic Stress. Amanda specializes in the treatment of children (6 and older) and adolescents. She provides treatment for a range of concerns that children experience, including responses to trauma, mood disorders such as depression and anxiety, behavioral concerns and defiance, ADHD and coping with parental separation.

In terms of her counseling approach, Amanda practices using evidence-based therapies with demonstrated efficacy for children and adolescents. These therapies include cognitive behavioral therapy, solution focused brief therapy, collaborative problem solving, play therapy, and emotion focused therapy. She works with children to assist them in expressing their thoughts, concerns, and emotions in effective ways, and takes a team approach to solving behavioral problems. Amanda often focuses on goal setting and skill building, providing both children and adults with the tools they need to be more effective and take greater enjoyment in their families and personal experiences.
