Educational Consultation Services

We understand that there are many reasons children, adolescents, and young adults don’t thrive in school, and fail to tap into their full potential to reach and launch into their social, academic, and vocational goals. We have found that part of the solution is first having a comprehensive understanding of your child’s strengths and challenges including any underlying causes to these challenges. An evaluation that examines this can provide a life map to inform what specific services are needed to bridge the gap between your child’s current struggles and tailored academic and therapeutic services to meet his or her life goals.

As preferred providers for pediatricians, schools, and the courts, we have completed hundreds of complex evaluations for the following conditions:

  • Recurring major depressive episodes
  • Manic and depressive mood swings
  • First psychotic breaks
  • Neurodevelopmental Disorders & Neuropsychiatric Disorders
  • Excessive worry, anxiety, panic, and fear
  • Paranoia and thought disturbances
  • Social avoidance/relationship struggles
  • Poor life management skills, failure to launch, or other college and career set-backs and delays
  • Procrastination and self-sabotage
  • Drug and alcohol misuse

We are pleased to now provide educational consulting and advocacy to parents and their child, adolescent, and young-adult children who struggling to reach their full academic potential, despite interventions (e.g., counseling, medication, 504, IEP, etc.) received over time. We therefore take a two-pronged approach to addressing the mental health and educational needs of youth and adolescents. First, we conduct a comprehensive evaluation that covers the following areas:

1) Neuro-cognitive
2) Personality, behavior, and mood
3) Development
4) Family systems/Community
5) Vocational
6) Psychiatric

This helps identify any underlying mental health concerns and establish what services your child needs to best treat these. Second, we help connect your child, adolescent, and young adult with expert-based services to address the underlying problems. On one end of the spectrum, this includes directly consulting with the school based professionals involved in your youth’s life including, if necessary, attending planning meetings to advocate for the services that your child needs, etc. On the other end of the spectrum, this includes facilitating educational placement and monitoring of your child over a 12-month period in a specialized academic/therapeutic program.
